The Shield Hero, one of the the Four Holy Heroes. 

Once an ordinary young man, he was summoned to a medieval fantasy world to fight against hordes of monsters, 

which occurence was known as "waves". 

He was excited to be in a video game-like world but soon was betrayed by several heartless people. 

Disappointed and depressed, he became unable to believe anyone. Eventually, he found a few people who are now his allies. 

However, his name is still disgraced, and he remains a fugitive of the kingdom.

When Rayas summoned him, Naofumi was fleeing from the army of Melromarc, accused of kidnapping and murdering the princess. 

Due to this traumatic experience, he could not open up to other people and kept a distance between Rayas and his friends. 

However, as he connected with the people of Reigrad, little by little, his frozen heart began to melt. 

As Naofumi grew closer to his new friends, he made a surprising proposal. 

Rayas and his friends agreed, but yet little did they know what would follow...!
